    Teachers in industry Franklin, Papakura and Manurewa
    is a Ministry of Education initiative managed by the
    Royal Society of New Zealand.

Teachers in Industry aims to foster curious minds by: initiating, developing and extending current networks connecting teachers to local Franklin, Papakura and Manurewa business/industry. The programme is part of a Nation of Curious Minds.

This programme is for:

  • School teachers
  • Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) intensive businesses.

What we do:

The Teachers in Industry Programme connects schools/kura with science or technology-intensive businesses in their community.

Teachers/kaiako spend time with participating businesses to gain industry experience, enabling them to develop business-relevant curriculum content for the classroom.

The aims of the programme are:

  • to support teachers/kaiako in ways to collaborate with, and leverage off, existing activities to enhance teacher/kaiako engagement with science and technology;
  • to facilitate links between schools and industry;
  • to foster curious minds by initiating, developing and extending current networks, connecting teachers/kaiako to local business/industry.
